Work That Will Really Pay Off
Accounting, finance and tax professionals play key roles in ensuring the integrity of our financial system – ensuring transactions and risks are appropriately reflected in the books and company records and compliance obligations are met. With the speed with which new digital assets emerged in the last few years, many in the industry are struggling to understand the underlying concepts with which they are based, as well as the business models they enable.
The purpose of ABC is to enable and educate businesses and organizations within the accounting industry about the challenges and opportunities inherent in the industry's move toward digital assets and distributed ledger technology, including blockchain. ABC will serve as a knowledge-sharing platform providing resources and developing best practices to help businesses navigate the changing accounting industry more efficiently. We bring together experts to help develop frameworks for understanding, highlight similarities from historical examples and clarify when new issues exist. ABC then provides an expert forum for dialog within the industry to help determine the appropriate resolution, be it accounting treatments, assurance and risk representations, governance and regulatory or tax compliance. As professionals are increasingly asked to work with these new instruments, the ABC can be a vital resource for the latest information relevant to their continued professional development.
ABC has created an infrastructure that will allow for collaboration and publication of best practices, including four Working Groups: Audit and Accounting, Internal Controls, Regulatory Compliance, and Taxation. Membership is open to any company or educational institution who develops products, provides services to customers or provides expertise to the accounting industry, including but not limited to accounting, legal and tax firms, technology companies and institutions of higher learning.
